I hate to seem bitter, because if you know me, you know that is not me at all. BUT! Where are the days where service was important. I know that we are exchanging your goods, for my money, but I worked hard to get this money. Could you at least care about my business? Could you at least provide me my service with a smile? And how about getting the service in a timely manner? Is that too much to ask?
Where is all of this coming from you may ask? About 18 months ago I embarked on a relationship with Comcast cable. They won me over with their promise of $99 for cable, home phone, and internet. They promised me on time service. They got on their knees and ask for my service. How could I not accept their proposal.
But just like many relationships, once I was married to their business they turned their back on me. Service outages became common place. I knew the technician on a first name basis. Within 18 months I had at least 10 service calls to my home. At that is the ones where a technician actually showed up.
After this most recent outage that happened Sunday, and after doing everything I could to save the relationship, including visiting a store, (yes me! who lives and dies by remote accessibility) I parted ways with them. Although they don't know it yet, I was able to call Clear and Direct TV, both of whom delivered service to a brand new customer within 24 hours. Something Comcast could not do with the 5 days I allowed them. (They couldn't schedule me for a service call until this Saturday).
The moral of this story is shame on me. Shame on me for allowing them to inch my bill up month over month, while still not providing me with the service that I deserved. Shame on me for taking so long to find another willing party with the many available options their are. Shame on me for allowing my work and productivity to suffer and for stress to overwhelm me, when it was as easy as telling them no thank you, your services are no longer needed.
So I pass along this plea to you. Something I will myself heed going forward. INSISTS on service. And if someone can't deliver the service you are accustomed to, then part ways.
No, I am not bitter. I am GONE!

If you CAN read, then READ!
What is it with people who refuse to read? Whether it's books, magazines, or internet articles we can not expect to improve our lot in life without reading!
I must admit that I have ulterior motives for suggesting people read more. Being the most recent person to commit their views to pen and paper and submit them to the world in the form of a book, I do somewhat fear that with all of the recent technology, my book will be lost in space.
I also fear that today's generation, (who can't make change without the use of technology), will be doomed to repeat some of the same mistakes from our history, simply because no one will pick up a book and read!
I advocate books because, even though I love the internet, having a background in computers I realize that garbage in, is garbage out. Meaning that anyone with a computer and a keyboard can type in their reality and make it somewhat real because it is found in a search engine when we go to look for it!
Most of us grew up in the land of Dr. Seuss, Mother Goose and the Brothers Grimm, so we must insists that our children read more than the customary school assignment.
Even in a time of I pads, I phones, Facebook, and Twitter there is still something to be learned from Confucius, Aristotle and Shakespeare.
And if your children have outgrown bedtime stories, try monthly trips to the library* (definition below) or family trips to the book store. Your family may be pleasantly surprised by what's in store.

Why Girl! Power?
Thanks to Abby, Luci, Michelle, and McGruder who gave me the inspiration (and the idea) to do this! Something about 40 makes you shake the spirit of procrastination and do the things you have always wanted to accomplish....
And now Girl! Power. For those of you who don't know I am in the process of publishing a book called REAL Girl! Power. Girl! Power is a message of empowerment for this generation and the next! Words of wisdom from our big mama's, nana's, ainny's, and sista's! All of the women who wished the best for us and therefore taught us all that they could.
My final vision for Girl! Power is simple. I would like for women to tap into their personal, financial, and friendship power to make the world better. The more we improve as individuals, then the greater impact to our families, our community and our world.
Stay tuned for updates on my book publishing process, and for updates on the many more books that I have in my spirit, in my soul, and in my future! All of which are my gift to the world as we know it, and my hope for the world that can be with just a little female intervention!
